Jeffrey Kroll is well known for his work in securing a $148 million judgment against O’Hare Airport in 2017, the largest compensatory award in Illinois history. His client, a 26-year-old dancer was permanently paralyzed from the waist down after a 750-pound structure at O’Hare collapsed and pinned her to the ground. “This verdict was crucial to helping to assure not only that airplanes were safe, but that the airport was as well,” says Kroll. “Not many people imagine having their lives forever altered by this type of negligence, a form of which has happened in airports, train stations and bus depots across the country. Since then, we have worked tirelessly to make a statement and an effort to prevent this type of tragedy from happening again.”

Questioned on his (Kroll) view as to whether enough change has been made on the ground and in the air, Kroll responded as such. “We still have a ways to go. Only two months ago, we saw two fatal crashes occur on Boeing 737 Max planes, calling into question their safety. More people fly today than ever before, putting greater emphasis on the industry to operate machinery that is as safe as it is efficient. At the end of the day, getting to and from your destination safely should be the first priority of air travel.”
