ELIZABETH KAVENY APPOINTED PLAINTIFF’S LIAISON COUNSEL IN ABBOTT LABORATORIES, ET. AL., PRETERM INFANT NUTRITION PRODUCTS LIABILITY LITIGATION

July 6, 2022

Elizabeth Kaveny has been appointed by Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer to act as Plaintiffs’ Liaison Counsel in Abbott Laboratories, et. al., Preterm Infant Nutrition Products Liability Litigation.  [Multi-District Litigation No. 3026; Master Docket No: 22 C 71].  The litigation is brought by the parents of premature infants that were fed cow’s milk-based infant formula.  The formula caused the infants to develop necrotizing enterocolitis, more commonly referred to as NEC, and, in some instances, led to the death of the infant.

As Plaintiffs’ Liaison Counsel, Ms. Kaveny will be responsible for maintaining a list of all cases contained within the Multidistrict Litigation, relaying communications between the Court and other counsel, and apprising all counsel of developments in the multidistrict litigation.  In addition, she attends status conferences before the Court to report updates in the litigation and progress in the state courts to ensure judicial efficiency.
