Getting Home Safely from Halloween Gatherings
by Jeffrey J. Kroll
Let’s face it, kids are not the only ones who indulge on Halloween night. In many neighborhoods, a wagon is often being pulled containing all kinds of alcohol. In some fun and friendly neighborhoods, trick-or-treating could be akin to a pub crawl. Sadly, one source indicates 38% of fatal crashes on Halloween night involve a driver or motorcyclist with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher. Talk about scary.
When I was a kid, the classic Halloween scare was the razor blade in the apple. Today, a car or drunk driver striking a trick-or-treater is far more likely to happen….and, yet, this is easily preventable. Responsible hosts need to not only keep their partying guests safe, but also children and parents enjoying this holiday.
The attorneys and staff at the Law Offices of Kaveny + Kroll hope you have a safe Halloween. We are committed to making our community a safer place for all children.
