Recent Study Finds Increased Trampoline Injuries in Commercial Settings
by Jeffrey J. Kroll
Not long ago, a study was presented to the American Academy of Pediatrics, which indicate that injuries from trampolines outside the home have increased over the last 15 years. Researchers attribute this increase to the growing popularity of trampolines, not only as entertainment but also as exercise. Researchers found that in each year examined, it was 32% more likely that a child who suffered a trampoline-related injury or bone fracture was injured at a recreational facility or gym than on a trampoline in a backyard or home setting. Fifteen years ago, trampolines were the source of 3.95% of pediatric fractures. In just ten years, that number nearly doubled.
