Pediatric Poisoning
Be Careful Of Children Around Medicines

by Jeffrey J. Kroll

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has published a rather scary conclusion.

From 2022 to 2023, there was a 10 percent increase in the number of “unintentional” pediatric poisonings. This number is extremely alarming. In fact, close to 70,000 pediatric patients were affected by pediatric poisoning. Sadly, much of the increase in pediatric “inadvertent” drug poisoning involved over-the-counter painkillers and narcotics for adults or older siblings.

Parents need to be vigilant and safe regarding prescription medications; even things such as gummies could cause fatal or catastrophic injuries for a child.
